I might be having a little holiday R&R but still find time to give Vikki & Mark their sneak peek from their big day last weekend. It was a lovely day including the weather being very kind and a lovely couple too. Comment share & enjoy xx
It’s always good to have a personal project or goal in your business, whether it be financial, creative or something closer to home. This year I have been working on two personal projects. One is the Marmite Tots which you may have seen earlier in the year (by the way it’ll be back in the Autumn!!) and the other is entitled Imperfections.
Having your photograph taken at the best of times is not everyone’s favourite thing but even more so if you have an “imperfection” of some kind. These imperfections do not need to be physical but can still cause anxiety, stress and problems in everyday life. What amazes me is how people overcome these and produce stunning art, excel in sport, go over and above what is needed of them. In my mind they are heroes, not only for themselves but for others too. I wanted to create a set of images showing these remarkable people, being themselves and then showing what they have achieved.
I had already photographed Jess Applegate MBE earlier for personal shots and commercial advertising images but also managed to get some shots for myself for project.
I was then introduced to Jordan Catchpole, another up and coming swimmer who also agreed to take part in the project. Jordan came to the studio with Claire, his Mum, who explained Jordan had been diagnosed with autism and significant learning difficulties. Despite this Jordan has achieved the following so far:-
ASA East Region Bagcat Finals
Norfolk County Finals
Most recently he is Norfolk county champion at 3K open water
He has been competing since 9 and has won numerous medals and trophies.
He now has the opportunity to succeed as an S14 disability swimmer and his targets are the World Championships and fingers crossed the Rio trials as well.
It was brilliant to see Jordan in front of the camera and he did not disappoint. Here are a few from the session.
If you would like to take part in my Imperfections project, please please please get in touch. It is not about what’s not perfect about you, it’s about your achievements and ability to overcome. Comment, share & enjoy!
I know I’ve posted a sneak peek of Becky & Tom’s big day earlier last month but I received a beautiful review from them and wanted to share it with you. After first meeting Becky & Tom last year to book and plan their special day, we met up a couple of months beforehand for a pre-shoot on a Broad near Norwich. This is a perfect time to chat more about the arrangements and let Becky & Tom get “used” to having their photo taken. What I mean by “used to” is we all take snaps here and there but when you’re after professional photographs which look as natural as possible, it takes a little planning. Being able to stand correctly and be directed by your photographer is a must to achieve those wonderful shots. Becky & Tom had asked for some specific shots to be taken on the day which, fortunately, we managed to get. Sometimes it is not possible to get ALL the shots you may ask for, but we photographers do try our utmost to deliver. Below is one of the shots Becky had asked for and also the lovely review I received.
“After seeing Belinda’s work at a family members wedding there was no doubt we had to use this super talented lady for our wedding ! She didn’t disappoint. Not only did she take every shot we asked for and much much more she was also on hand throughout the day taking some real beautiful natural shots ! Can not recommend highly enough ! xx” – Becky Bowden, July 2015

The official opening of the Norwich & District Photographic Society’s 99th Annual Exhibition took place last night at The Hostry, Norwich Cathedral. It is a judged exhibition and the cream of the crop were displayed for all to see. A very nice spread in the Eastern Daily Press on Monday was also a very welcome sight.
Please go along and take a look – it is a fabulous exhibition of local photographers’ work and a very good collection of all types of images from landscapes to people. It is open every day Monday – Saturday and from 12 noon on Sundays. Here are a few images from the evening. Comment, share & enjoy!!
Well I promised a sneak peek and here it is. What a beautiful and emotional day! There were tears, laughter, surprises and the weather was gorgeous along with Becky our bride. Starting off in the Norfolk countryside then travelling in style by Hummer for the boys and by limo for the girls to the Oaklands Hotel for the ceremony and reception. Packed out with family and guests the service was lovely. I’m not going to give too much more away but here’s the sneak peek promised. If you are looking for a photographer for your special day, get in touch some dates still available for 2015. Comment, share & enjoy!
Isn’t life funny? There I was, minding my own business on a Saturday evening when I get a message from a good friend Steve about the opportunity to photograph Paralympian swimmer Jessica Jane Applegate MBE for some promotional images and personal shots!
Well I didn’t need much encouragement to get moving quickly and the following day the shoot was on! We arrived at Riverside Leisure Centre on a lovely Sunday afternoon and were welcomed by the manager. Shortly afterwards Jess arrived with her Mum Dawn and we had a cuppa and discussed how to get the shots we all wanted. The leisure centre needed shots for promotion purposes, Jess needed shots for use by the Digital Phone Company and I wanted to get some shots for myself for a personal project called Imperfections, promotion and competition. It was lovely meeting Jess and her Mum and I was in awe of Jess’s achievements to date (and she’s only 18!):-
Paralympics London 2012 – S14 200m Freestyle Champion
Paralympics London 2012 – S14 100m Backstroke Fourth

Trials 2015 – Qualified for the 2015 World Championships
1 x World Record – 2015
1 x Able bodied British National Qualifying Time 2015

We started the shoot in the lobby and got most of the promotional shots needed there, along with some great personal images.
We then moved to the poolside where we got some great shots in and out of the pool. It was also a great opportunity for me to try out my Panasonic 45-200 lens for the Olympus OMD capturing some great action shots.
All in all we had a great time (especially me!) and I would love to do it all over again! If you would like to participate in my Imperfections project or need any promotional images for yourself, please get in touch. Comment, share & enjoy!
Well I held my first Boudoir Workshop a couple of weeks ago now and it was great! I really enjoyed sharing knowledge and ideas with like-minded photographers and demonstrating how to light and pose to best effect. Many thanks to our two models, Lindsey Ann and Jess Fisher, the beautiful location of the Lenwade House Hotel and a very tasty lunch. If you would like to attend the next workshop, or know someone who would be interested, please get in touch as spaces are limited! Comment, share & enjoy.
To celebrate Father’s Day and Armed Forces Day over the next couple of weeks, I am offering a family portrait session with or without uniform if required and a complimentary print or digital file for the great price of £45! Book now as this offer is only available if booked and paid for in advance by 31st July 2015.
I seem to be on a roll at the moment, as I have gained 2 Highly Commended Awards in the SWPP Monthly Competition for May. It is always flattering to be awarded something, but more so when it is judged by your peers in the commercial market. At the end of the year, all the awarded images are put together and some will be upgraded to Gold and a glittering awards dinner is held in London, so fingers crossed!! Comment, share & enjoy!
I will always try and enter the monthly competitions in the societys’ I am a member of, not only for the recognition but to stretch and grow your style and technique. It is good to see your own images alongside others and see how they compare. I have been incredibly lucky recently and last month I achieved 2 Highly Commendeds, one for a sports image and one for monochrome. I have posted them below for you to enjoy.
