2015 has been another incredible year for The Societies’ Monthly Image Competition with 11,739 entered throughout the year. The 20×16″ Print Competition held during this year’s Convention has seen a vast increase in entries, in fact, double last years to over 1000 both from around the World.
Each of the categories from the Monthly Image Competition has nominees which have been chosen from the Gold Award winning images from 2015. I was lucky enough to be nominated in Events Category and finally came 3rd overall which I am over the moon about. This is the image chosen:-
Throughout the year the SWPP use a group of 34 Judges to do Qualifications, Monthly Image Competition judging, End of Year judging and 20×16″ Print Competition judging at The Convention. This judging is live and very interesting. I was also blessed to come 3rd in the Documentary Category of the Print Competition with this image.
To come 3rd in both competitions with a worldwide entry criteria against some of the best photographers in the world was a humbling experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the SWPP Convention, the Trade Show to keep abreast of the latest products and photography trends and can’t wait for next year to do it all again. Entering competitions helps immensely with feedback, critique and setting the bar for quality photography.
I was also proud to have some of my images chosen by Colorworld Imaging, one of the professional labs I use for my products, to product a sample for their stand, along with a framed print. Here are a few pictures of the beautiful products:-
I hope you enjoy looking at my images and I look forward to a good year and possibly welcoming some of you to my studio as well. Comment, share & enjoy!

Well it’s Christmas Eve. Didn’t think I’d get everything done by now but somehow I’ve managed!! I’m nearly finished at the studio so by late afternoon I shall hopefully have a few presents to wrap, put my feet up in front of the telly with a LARGE glass of wine! I was having a think today of all the people I’ve met this year and whose photographs I have taken, along with sharing a little piece of their lives. Mostly the sharing was great fun and happy, but at times, there were a few sad times and memories. I am so thankful for the job I do which gives me the privilege of being part of peoples’ lives. I hope my images will give some happiness and pleasure for years to come. I’ve put below a round up of 2015 with some of my favourite images over the year. I’m looking forward to a peaceful Christmas (apart from possibly tackling the sales!) and would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. Best wishes xxx
I know I said roll on December last time but I didn’t expect to be “on a roll”. What a rollercoaster of a month so far (and it’s still not even Christmas yet)!. I was absolutely ecstatic to get an email from the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers to say I have been nominated in the Photographer of the Year Awards’ category Events. I shall be attending the Awards in January in London and if I am successful in my category, I will also go forward with a chance of being Overall Photographer of the Year with the SWPP. The image which got me the nomination is below.
Then came the results of SWPP Monthly Competition for November. I try and enter every month and this time I was awarded a Gold and a Highly Commended for Nigel and Ellie respectively.
They say things come in threes and lo and behold the monthly competition run by the National Photographic Society also netted me 2 Highly Commendeds with Dudley and again Ellie.
Well the posh frock is purchased, hotel booked and ticket bought. I’m really looking forward to Christmas of course but I shall also have a wonderful few days in London to look forward to in the New Year, along with my fingers and toes crossed for a possible Award. Even if there isn’t, it’ll still be pretty special to me and I’ll have a great time at the Awards Dinner. Many many thanks to all who contributed to these images. I couldn’t have done it without you xx
WOW! Sorry I haven’t updated recently but it’s seemed as though my feet haven’t touched the ground! I’ve had babies, adults, workshops, Marmite, christenings and wedding fairs keeping me busy! So here’s a run-down of this month:-
First was the Norwich City Football Club Wedding Show with the EDP, great day and lots of lovely people to show my work to. Then followed Harrison’s christening at Wymondham Abbey. Beautiful event even though the weather was a little blustery!
The following day it was time for Marmite Tots again – I love this project and it makes for great photos.
The following week it was Ethan’s turn for his 1st Cherubs Session:-
Than came the Dramatic Lighting Workshop at my studio for photographers to try out dramatic one-light lighting. The lovely Nigel was our model and he was absolutely perfect.
Then it was time for Marmite again!
Then a very secret – hush-hush shoot which I loved!! Followed by George coming for his 1st Cherubs Session as well.
Up till today my last session was yesterday with the Daniels and Ablitts. Family sessions are always fun and this one was no exception.
I’ve also managed some admin (where and when I’m not sure!!!??) but all in all November has been buzzing. Roll on December xxx

I have decided, as promised, to bring back Marmite Tots for the autumn. It’s completely free to take part and very entertaining. Each session takes approximately half an hour so won’t mess up your day. The first two sessions will be on Sunday 8th November from 9.30am till 12.30pm and Sunday 15th November from 9.30am till 4pm. If you would like to volunteer or know someone who would please email me at email@example.com to book your slot. Little ones ideally need to be able to sit unaided but not yet walking and obviously never had Marmite before! Here’s a couple of my favourites from the last Marmite Tots session earlier in the year. Comment, share & enjoy!
